Yunuen Bonaparte is an award-winning photojournalist and visual editor based in New York, dedicated to the art of visual storytelling. She is currently the Art Director for palabra. Her photography has been featured in publications such as The Washington Post, NPR, The Hechinger Report, Chalkbeat, Al Día News, El Universal, and Americas Quarterly.
As an immigrant, Yunuen brings an unwavering passion to her work, using her lens to give a voice to overlooked and underrepresented communities. She is committed to illuminating these vital stories both through her own photography and in her role as a visual editor.
Her work has been exhibited in notable showcases, including "South of the Border" as part of the Getty PST:LA/LA exhibition at Loft at Liz's in Los Angeles and "UndocuJoy: Unfathomable Strength" at San Francisco's Galería de la Raza.
Yunuen attended the Kalish Workshop for visual editors in 2022. She is a proud member of the NPPA, Women Photograph, the Authority Collective, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), where she consults for the NAHJ Visual Task Force.
